Don’t get me wrong, too much weight is unhealthy as it increases your risk of serious health conditions. But the reason why so many women are unhappy with their weight has more to do a self image problem.
Is Your Self Image A Problem
A poor self image is as unhealthy to your mind as too much weight is to your physical health. If your dieting to conform to societies ideal of the perfect weight, then you’ll only experience frustration and failure
Why? Because losing weight isn’t the problem. It’s not an external problem, it’s a internal one. It’s about how you feel about yourself.
What the media and fashion and magazines have done is made women feel inadequate and dissatisfied with their own bodies. Of course the reason they’re making you feel inadequate is to sell you more of their expensive clothes, cosmetics, diet plans and weight loss pills
The key to achieving long term weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight is to shift the focus away from your body. Before you even attempt to lose weight you need to change your self-image from a negative to a positive one. A self image that accepts who you are and that your weight does not, in any way determine you’re happiness.
Love The Reflection You See In The Mirror
You need to begin appreciating the person you see in the mirror. This takes practice and commitment but once you accept who you are, society’s pressure to conform you will no longer have an effect on you.
What you’ve got to realise is that you are a truly unique person. There’s no one like you in this world or ever will be. Nobody walks, talks, cries or laughs like you – you are completely unique. Understanding this fact will begin to raise the question in your mind – why would I want to be or look like someone else, when I am a totally unique human being.
The fact is, society is constantly trying to conform us into someone we are not and this is one of the primary reasons why many women are unhappy and why most weight loss help for women is ineffective.
In order to escape the conformity of society throw out your magazines and turn the TV off. You must also refrain from jumping into the next fad diet. If you haven’t realised by now they don’t work for the long term. They are a quick fix and women who put faith in them end up putting the weight back on.
In addition, many women become over dependent on these rapid weight loss diets. However, the constant yo-yoing of losing lots of weight and then putting it back on again is detrimental to their health.
A Lifestyle Of Eating Less
What you need to do is lead a lifestyle where you learn to eat less. The fact is, most of us eat far too much for what is body’s need. This problem is further compounded by the fact that western diets primarily consist of processed foods.
These are high in fat, refined flour, sugar and provide very few nutrients essential for maintaining heath. These foods are not only unhealthy; they’re dead foods because they don’t nourish you.
Many processed foods are contaminated with chemical insecticides and pesticides. Over the years of eating these foods toxins build up and disturb the body’s hormonal balance. This affects your metabolism and your body’s ability to burn calories.
Rather than dieting focus on good nutrition. Fresh organic fruits, vegetables and wholegrains are naturally low in cholesterol, calories and are full in nutrients.
Making these foods, along with lean meats and fish, your staple diet you will lose weight naturally without the feeling that you’re depriving yourself.
